Gute Chancen für deutsche Unternehmen: Kanada will Marineflotte modernisieren und neue zivile Schiffe bauen.

Kanada will seine Marineflotte modernisieren und zeitgleich Schiffe zur zivilen Nutzung bauen. 2010 wurde diesbezüglich die National Shipbuilding Strategy vorgestellt, wonach Investitionen in Höhe von etwa 30 Mrd. CAD in Aussicht gestellt wurden. Die damit zusammenhängenden erhöhten Investitionsleistungen Kanadas in den Bereichen Schiffbau und Häfen und dem Ausbau von international tätigen Forschungseinrichtungen eröffnen deutschen Unternehmen Chancen in der maritimen Wirtschaft in Kanada. Deshalb führt die Deutsch-Kanadische Industrie- und  Handelskammer vom 18.  bis 22.  September 2017 eine Delegationsreise zum Thema „Maritime Wirtschaft“ nach Vancouver, BC und Montreal, QC, bzw. Quebec City, QC oder Halifax, NS durch. Die vom VSM beantragte und begleitete Reise wird als Teil des Markterschließungsprogramms für KMU des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWi) gefördert.

EU project to automate vessel inspection in final stage

An EU-funded project, dubbed Safepec, is in its final stage of development of its online tool that provides advice on when and how to inspect vessels.

The Safepec tool will be able to bring together inspection results from multiple sources and feed them into a risk model framework. The model includes historical data of the ship or ships, past inspections and accidents, which are all used to design a risk based framework.

The framework will then be able to advise which ships to inspect and which areas might need closer examining if defects have been identified. The overall aim of the project is to reduce accidents based on probability models using historical data, as well as sensor data, to make ship inspection more reliable and safe, as well as cheaper.

The final phase of the project is now in progress bringing all the developed tools together and fine-tuning the whole model. Safepec is holding its final workshop to present the latest version of the tool on 8 September in Hamburg.

Safepec is made up of nine project partners: Glintt INOV, DNVGL SE & DNVGL DE, IHS, TNO, Marintek, Technical University Munich, National Technical University of Athens, World Maritime University.
